Schmincke Horadam Gouache

Gouache, that word that everyone pronounces differently! For the uninitiated it is simply opaque water colour, giving work a characteristic matt and “blocky” feel.

Available in 15ml tubes; Titanium White is also available in a 60ml tube.

Schmincke HORADAM GOUACHE finest artists’ gouache colours offer excellent flow properties. The range of 48 finest gouache colours may be diluted with water and can also be mixed within the range. After drying, HORADAM GOUACHE can be wetted and reworked on all types of absorbing and non-absorbing paper, carton and canvas. Due to the extra-fine pigment grain sizes, these finest artists’ clours can also be applied using a 0,15 mm fine airbrush.

For painting techniques requiring opaque colours to cover larger areas, HORADAM GOUACHE offers a complementary medium to Schmincke’s internationally renowned top quality HORADAM AQUARELL watercolours. Both ranges can be intermixed. On account of their different surface effects, they serve different, complementary modes of artistic expression: the HORADAM AQUARELL series is translucent and allows the paper to “shine through”, while HORADAM GOUACHE’s effect derives from the rich, opaque, pastel-like, intensive pigment layer.
