Charbonnel intaglio etching inks are specially designed for intaglio techniques. Intaglio differs from wood-cut or relief carving, in that the carved areas retain the ink when printing. The subject is thus intaglio engraved whereas in woodcut (in wood and lino for example) the design is left in relief. The inks are composed of ground pigments, mixed with a binder and polymerised linseed oil. Charbonnel inks have high pigment content to give good colouring power. The consistency of the colours is identical. The inks go through a number of quality checks to ensure correct colour, consistency and particle size. All colours are available in 60ml tubes; the blacks are also available in 200ml tins.
